The body carries a register of stylised ferns, each drawn as a central stem with paired curling fronds, set against a ground stippled all over with fine punch marks so the pattern lifts away from it. That register is framed top and bottom by running bands of small triangles, and again by a fine cable line at the rim.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe handle is the piece of real work. It is cut through in a lattice of triangles and diamonds, each facet chip carved to a crisp point, so the whole thing reads as a pierced screen rather than a solid slab.
