Kat Allibe, born Catherine Oaks, is a contemporary painter whose work spans more than three decades and multiple continents. Born in Grenoble, France, she began painting in her twenties with no intention of exhibition, sale, or audience. Her earliest works were created privately, driven by instinct rather than ambition, and left behind when life carried her elsewhere.

Raised in a family of entrepreneurs and independent thinkers, creativity was never ornamental. From childhood, Allibe moved fluidly between visual art and music, developing a practice rooted equally in discipline and intuition. Painting was not a pursuit separate from life, but a means of navigating it.

Over the decades that followed, Allibe lived and worked across Asia and the United States, building businesses, raising a family, and enduring cycles of collapse and reinvention. Through financial upheaval, migration, and personal loss, painting remained constant. It was how experience was processed, recorded, and survived.

For more than thirty years, she painted quietly alongside a global career in marketing and brand strategy, producing a substantial body of work outside the structures of the traditional art world. The canvas was not a destination. It was continuity.

In 2025, Allibe formally entered art school, not to legitimize her work, but to deepen it. Technical refinement and scale followed immediately, allowing an already mature practice to expand with greater confidence and physical presence. Her contemporary paintings reflect a lifetime of lived experience, rendered without irony, trend-consciousness, or performative abstraction.

International in origin and sensibility, yet deeply personal in execution, Allibe’s work explores resilience, feminine strength, memory, and transformation with restraint and clarity. The paintings do not ask to be interpreted. They ask to be encountered.
