A sculptural early 20th-century metal flower frog by Dazey Manufacturing Co., designed with an open cage grid for arranging stems inside a vase or low bowl. The circular tiered form, worn metallic finish, and embossed patent markings give it the kind of utilitarian beauty modern floral foam could never emotionally recover from.
Era & Style Tags
Era: c. 1920s–1930s
Style: Early 20th-century floral tool / industrial gardenware
Material: Metal
Maker: Dazey Manufacturing Co.
Form: Round cage flower frog / flower holder
The Design
A round metal cage flower frog with a raised grid top, circular side structure, and lower interior support ring. The open lattice design was made to hold stems securely while allowing them to sit at varied angles, giving floral arrangements shape, structure, and movement.
The piece is marked Dazey Junior No. 2 and bears patent/manufacturer markings around the rim, including the visible Aug. 29, 1916 patent date. Its worn finish, oxidized surface, and exposed metal give it a quietly industrial presence, equally suited for use in floral styling or as a small decorative object.
Condition & Provenance
Marked Dazey Junior No. 2 with Dazey Manufacturing Co. patent details along the rim. The visible patent date connects the design to the early 20th-century development of metal cage flower frogs, which became popular for more natural, flexible flower arranging.
Condition is antique with visible oxidation, paint loss, surface wear, and rim wear. There is a visible chipped or broken area along part of the outer rim. The cage structure remains visually strong with age-appropriate patina throughout.
Dimensions
Exact dimensions not provided. Appears to be a small round tabletop floral frog, likely approximately 4–5 inches in diameter.

Why It Belongs In Your Home
This is a small object with real design history behind it. It belongs in a low ceramic bowl, on a desk holding notes or cards, styled with dried stems, or placed on a shelf as an industrial garden object with age and texture.
It has the appeal of something made for use, not decoration, which is exactly why it now works so well as decoration. Funny how objects earn charm after a century of surviving human nonsense.

Antiques are irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind. Carrier handling is outside our control once a piece has left our facility, and major carriers including FedEx do not insure antiques.
