The Piece
This cast metal lead pointer was produced by the Eagle Pencil Company in the late 19th to early 20th century and is protected under U.S. Patent No. 354,320 (1886). Designed for professional use, it sharpens solid graphite leads used in drafting pencils and lead holders rather than wooden pencils.
Tools like this were standard equipment for architects, engineers, surveyors, and accountants during the height of American industrial and architectural expansion.

Condition
