Early 20th-Century Silver Overlay Glass Tazza, Gilt-Rimmed Footed Compote, c. 1910s–1930s
A refined early 20th-century glass tazza with a shallow footed form, gilt banding, and an ornate silver overlay border around the rim. The piece has a light, architectural presence, with its clear glass body catching shadow and reflection while the decorative rim adds a formal, almost ceremonial edge.
The Design
This compote is defined by its restraint. The low pedestal base, flared bowl, and delicate gilt rings give the piece a graceful silhouette, while the raised silver overlay border introduces a layer of old-world ornament without overwhelming the glass.
The rim features scrolling foliate detail and shield-like cartouches, creating a lace-like pattern when viewed from above or through direct light. It is the kind of piece that works beautifully as a table centerpiece, vanity catchall, entryway vessel, or quiet decorative object on a shelf or console.

Early 20th century, c. 1910s–1930s. Maker unknown. The piece appears to be clear glass with gilt banding and silver overlay decoration.
Condition is consistent with age and use. The glass shows light surface wear, with expected rubbing to the gilt details and areas of patina, darkening, and minor loss to the silver overlay. No major structural damage is visible. The age-related wear gives the piece depth and character without diminishing its display presence.
