Product Overview
The Piece
A mid-20th-century Scandinavian pewter serveware set, consisting of a floral repoussé serving tray and a lidded condiment duo with ornate sculptural handles and finials, all rendered in heavy hand-worked pewter. Markings indicate manufacture by International Pewter Co. and Skruf Pewter (Sweden), known for highly tactile, decorative forms produced primarily between the 1940s–1970s.
What elevates this set beyond utilitarian serveware is the exuberance of its relief work: a celebration of botanical forms, hammered detail, and functional ornament that references early Northern European metalwork with a modernist twist.
Design & Composition
Form & Style
→ Decorative Scandinavian pewter with floral repoussé and hammer-finished surfaces
→ Brutalist-meets-folkloric design language, blending utility and ornament
→ Suitable for maximalist, Nordic-modern, traditional European, or gallery-core interiors
→ Anchors a dining table, drinks station, or styled bar cart with visual heft
Every component is highly tactile — from the flower-like finial lids to the soft scalloping of the tray’s edge. The forms feel both grounded and expressive, suggesting heritage without mimicry.

Markings (Confirmed):

History & Context
Skruf Pewter was a division of the broader Skruf Glassworks brand (est. 1897 in Sweden), known for a mid-century design ethos that blended clean Nordic lines with decorative surface detail. While Skruf is better known for glass, its pewter line ran mid-century and was exported internationally in limited numbers.
International Pewter was a U.S.-based brand during the same era, working with imported European forms and domestic craftsmen. Items were often sold through giftware and department stores, positioned between decorative art and heirloom function.
These items — especially the flower-handled lids — reflect a period where pewter straddled utility and sculpture. This set is a strong example of that blend, emphasizing both form and use.
Condition
→ Surface patina retained across all elements
→ No structural dents or deep scratches
→ Lids fit cleanly; finials secure
→ Tray shows expected wear and marks from gentle use
→ Undersides marked and legible
