Mid-Century Airguide Teak & Brass Weather Station (Thermometer • Barometer • Hygrometer), c. 1960

The Piece
A sleek desktop weather station by Airguide Instrument Co. (Chicago), c. 1958–1965, pairing a thermometer, aneroid barometer, and hygrometer in a warm teak case on a floating brushed-brass plinth. The speckled teal panel and gold trim capture the optimistic, atomic-era look—scientific utility with living-room polish.

Design & Construction
Form & Style:
Three domed glass dials with cream faces and gilt bezels set in a rectilinear teak frame; teal “terrazzo” laminate ground divided by gilt bands; minimal typography and a low, cantilevered brass base. It reads like a tiny piece of modern architecture.

Material:
Solid teak housing; brass-plated bezels and base; printed laminate panel; glass crystals. Thermometer and hygrometer marked Germany—period-correct imported movements Airguide commonly used.

Condition Notes
Light, honest oxidation at the bezels and gentle surface wear to brass base; glass domes clear; dials clean and legible. Presents beautifully and photographs exceptionally well.

Placement & Styling
Perfect on a credenza, bookshelf, or executive desk; pairs naturally with other teak/brass accessories and mid-century ceramics. A sculptural, working slice of 1960s design.
