One canvas, one signature, one date. Zavosky painted a dancer in 1979 in two colours, burnt umber and white, over a ground of grey dry-brushed onto white, and signed it Zavosky 79' in the same umber used for the figure.
No Zavosky appears in the auction databases we searched (LiveAuctioneers, WorthPoint, Invaluable) or in the listed-artist indexes. The surname is rare and of Polish origin, with documented American branches in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and San Rafael, Marin County, California; it appears on 203 pages of California newspapers between 1970 and 1990, almost all in the Bay Area. In 2025 a 1979 painting signed Zavosky, found in a thrift store, was posted to an online identification forum and left unsolved.
This page is an open file and grows as the record does. View the painting, or contact us if you knew a painter who signed Zavosky.
