“Floral Arrangement in a Black Urn”(Varnished Print on Board), c. 1940s–1960s
Chromolithographic/offset print mounted to board • Hand-brushed varnish • Carved gilt frame
A richly saturated floral still life in the Dutch/Flemish tradition, with poppies, roses, morning glories, and berries overflowing a dark urn on a stone ledge. This is a mid-century decorative print mounted to board and finished with hand-applied varnish to emulate the depth and sheen of an oil painting—the subtle brush swirls and rubbed passages you see are from the varnish layer, not canvas craquelure. Presented in a dramatic carved and beaded gilt frame, it delivers instant Old-World romance under a picture light.
