Product Overview
The Piece
This is original early Fiesta. Not a later reissue. Not a tired color. Not filler.
A genuine Fiesta Ware bud vase in saturated chartreuse glaze, produced by Homer Laughlin China Company during the first decade of Fiesta’s release. Tall, sculptural, and unapologetically bold, this vase carries the energy that made Fiesta a design icon rather than just another dinnerware line.
It was made to hold a single stem. It ends up holding attention.
Design & Construction
The form is pure early Fiesta: a slender, vertical body rising cleanly from a stepped circular base. No excess. No fuss. Just proportion and color doing the work.
The chartreuse glaze is rich and glossy, with subtle pooling at the contours, exactly what collectors look for in early pieces. Turn it over and the underside tells the truth: the impressed Fiesta / HLC / USA mark with an incised “H,” placing production firmly between 1936 and 1946.
This is not guesswork. This is documented, collectible Fiesta.
History & Why This One Matters
When Fiesta launched in 1936, it shattered expectations of what American ceramics could look like. Chartreuse was one of the original colors and among the first to disappear during wartime production shifts, making early examples increasingly desirable.
Bud vases were part of Fiesta’s accessory line, designed to bring color beyond the table. They were used, moved, and often broken. Clean survivors like this don’t linger long, especially in strong original glazes.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The glaze is bright, glossy, and even. No cracks, no repairs, no structural damage. Light age-appropriate wear only. Displays beautifully from every angle.
