The Piece
A Magnavox Astro-Sonic console stereo in its original walnut lowboy cabinet, with sculpted panel fronts and woven side grilles.
The cabinet holds a solid state Astro-Sonic AM and FM stereo receiver, a Micromatic automatic record changer built by Collaro in England running at 16, 33, 45 and 78 rpm, and large built in speakers. A lifting lid covers the turntable and keeps it free of dust.
Controls are separate for bass, treble and balance, with a selector for phono, radio and tape. Auxiliary and tape inputs are present on the back.
History & Provenance
This is a furniture grade stereo from the era when the hi-fi was a piece of casework rather than a stack of components. Magnavox built the Astro-Sonic line as solid state, which meant instant on, cool running and far better reliability than the valve consoles it replaced.
The record changer is not Magnavox work. It is a Micromatic by Collaro of England, one of the better changer makers of the period, and it is the reason these consoles handle a stack of records as smoothly as they do.
The cabinet carries model number 1P3711 and serial number 2143489.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
A console stereo earns its footprint twice. It is a media credenza with real storage presence, and it is a working instrument with speakers sized the way speakers were sized before anyone worried about shelf depth.
The sound is the point. Large efficient drivers in a sealed wooden cabinet give a deep smooth bass and a lush midrange that no compact system reproduces, and the cabinet itself does half the work.
A small Bluetooth receiver into the auxiliary input makes it a wireless speaker for the room without altering anything. It suits a living room, a listening lounge, a design led rental or a retail floor.
Every piece is packed with professional-grade materials: multiple foam layers, double-boxing, directional and fragile handling labels. For large furniture we use custom timber crating. We photograph packing before dispatch and can provide images on request.
