Product Overview
The Piece
A bright, Old World–leaning floral plate with the kind of color work that only looks better with age.
Two oversized blooms in rose and golden yellow anchor the center, surrounded by deep green leaves and small cobalt accents. The rim is banded in navy and blush, giving the piece structure and keeping the palette from drifting into “cute.” It reads Mediterranean-inspired, but with the cleaner symmetry you see in mid-century decorative ceramics.
There’s visible glaze crazing throughout, especially on the underside, which adds a softer, timeworn texture to an otherwise saturated design.
Maker / Mark
Marked on the underside:
Bella Casa by Ganz
This is a branded decorative ceramic line. The mark is important because it allows the piece to be accurately identified and dated within the mid-century decorative ceramics market rather than sold as anonymous “Italian pottery” with a prayer and a price tag.
Historical Context
The 1960s and 1970s were peak years for warm, decorative table ceramics that leaned into Old World motifs, especially florals and Mediterranean palettes. These pieces were designed to bring richness to everyday dining and to live out in the open: plate walls, display cabinets, open shelving, and sideboards.
This plate fits squarely into that period’s aesthetic: bold color, stylized botanicals, and a slightly romantic finish that has aged into something more nuanced.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
This is the kind of plate that makes a wall or shelf feel collected, not decorated.
The color palette is saturated, but it’s disciplined: cobalt holds the rim, blush softens the edge, and the florals stay centered and graphic. The crazing takes the brightness down a notch and gives it that “it’s been around” depth that new ceramics can’t fake, even when they try.
Use it as a single accent piece on open shelving, layer it into a plate wall, or style it on a sideboard with warm woods, brass, or painted cabinetry. It brings warmth instantly without turning the room into a theme.
