Product Overview
The Piece
A petite Japanese ceramic bud vase with a luminous ivory crackle glaze and hand-painted floral decoration in rose, coral, green, and soft yellow. The form is simple and elegant: rounded shoulders, a narrow mouth, and a tapered foot that gives the piece a quiet, balanced silhouette.
The painted flower has that loose, expressive quality found in Japanese export ceramics, where botanical decoration was often applied by hand rather than mechanically printed. Tiny vase, oversized charm. Civilization survives another day.
History
Marked Japan on the base, this vase was likely made for the Western export market, most plausibly during the mid-20th century, around the 1930s–1950s. The ivory crackle glaze, hand-painted floral motif, and small decorative bud-vase form are consistent with Japanese ceramics produced during the late prewar to early postwar export period.
The crackle finish gives the surface depth and age, while the floral painting keeps the piece light, romantic, and very usable in modern interiors.

Why It Belongs In Your Home
This is the kind of piece that does not need scale to have presence. It brings color, age, and texture into a room without demanding attention like some enormous decorative object with main-character syndrome.
Place it on a writing desk, bedside table, mantel, bookshelf, or small tray with a single stem. The crackled ivory glaze softens the brighter florals, making it easy to mix with antique wood, brass, books, paintings, or layered collected pieces.
A small Japanese vase with graceful proportion, visible age, and just enough color to feel alive.
