Vintage Old Spice Admiral Figural Aftershave Bottle

This vintage figural bottle was produced by the Shulton Company as part of the iconic Old Spice aftershave line. Molded in glass and shaped as a naval officer holding a telescope, the bottle reflects the maritime branding that defined Old Spice throughout the mid-20th century.

The sculpted uniform features molded epaulettes, double-breasted coat buttons, tall boots, and a formal stance typical of naval officer imagery. Enamel-painted details highlight the uniform accents while the metal collar at the neck originally held the bottle’s stopper.

Designed to be both packaging and keepsake, Old Spice figural bottles were often saved long after the aftershave was used, becoming collectible examples of mid-century advertising design.

Historical Context

Old Spice was introduced in 1937 by the Shulton Company, quickly becoming one of the most recognizable grooming brands in the United States. The brand adopted strong nautical themes in its advertising, referencing sailing ships, sea captains, and maritime tradition.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Shulton released novelty glass bottles shaped as naval officers, ships, and other maritime figures. These bottles were designed to double as decorative objects once emptied, turning everyday grooming products into collectible keepsakes.

Today, Old Spice figural bottles remain popular with collectors of vintage advertising, mid-century design, and novelty glass.
