A small boudoir lamp with a rose pink ceramic base and a bell shaped shade trimmed with silk fringe and two applied clusters of ribbon roses.
The base is a long drawn teardrop, narrow at the neck and swelling low to a rounded foot, glazed in a warm rose pink with a fine speckle fired through it that keeps the colour from going flat. The form is entirely plain. There is no moulding, no banding and no gilding, which is what lets the shade carry the piece.
The shade is a bell in a soft cream linen, gathered at the top into a narrow braided gimp and finished at the lower edge with a corded gimp above a deep cream silk fringe cut long enough to swing.
Two trims are applied to the shade at the shoulder, each a hand assembled cluster of pink ribbon roses with sprays of small white blossom and a loop of narrow satin ribbon tied into a bow with the tails left loose. They are millinery work rather than glued on decoration, and they are the reason this lamp looks made rather than bought.
History & Provenance
Boudoir lamps are a distinct form with a real history. They were made small on purpose, to stand on a dressing table, a night stand or a vanity where a full sized lamp would crowd the surface, and they were sold as a furnishing rather than as a light source. The fringe, the silk and the applied trims all belong to that intention.
The evidence here is in the making rather than in a mark. The base is a plain cast ceramic form with a speckled glaze of the kind produced in quantity by American potteries in the middle decades of the last century. The shade is a stitched fabric bell on a wire frame with gimp applied by hand, and the two rose clusters are assembled from ribbon and stamen blossom in the same way a hat trim was assembled.
No maker's mark is visible and no shade label survives. An absence of that kind sets an outer limit and not a starting point, so the range below is deliberately given at the width the object supports.
Worth saying plainly: the trims may well have been added by a previous owner rather than fitted at the factory. That is common on lamps of this type and it is not a fault. It is the part that makes this one different from the next one.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
This is the lamp for the corner of a room that has run out of ideas. It is small enough for a nightstand that already holds a book and a glass, and it gives the low pooled light that makes a bedroom feel finished rather than lit.
The fringe earns its keep. A fringed shade breaks the light into a soft edge instead of a hard circle, and on a low table that difference is the whole effect.
The rose trims are what a buyer will remember. Pink ribbon, white blossom and a loose satin bow are unapologetically romantic, and against a plain painted wall or an old mirror they read as charm rather than clutter.
