A pair of antique sugar tongs dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, crafted in silverplate and designed for formal tea service. The tongs feature elongated arms, floral repoussé decoration at the grip, and clawed ends shaped specifically for handling sugar cubes.
These were not casual utensils. Sugar tongs were part of a refined domestic ritual, used in parlors and dining rooms where presentation mattered as much as function. Their form reflects that purpose: slender, balanced, and quietly ornamental.
