The Piece
This decorative Italian cherub soap set features four molded round soaps, each bearing a raised putto (cherub) relief inspired by classical Renaissance ornament. Produced in Italy by Saponificio Artigianale Fiorentino, the set was designed as a luxury gift or display object rather than as utilitarian bathware.
Executed in a creamy ivory-toned vegetable-based soap, the reliefs are cast to resemble carved stone or plaster medallions. The presentation reflects late 20th-century Italian decorative traditions that draw heavily on historical imagery for domestic display.
While authentic and well made, this set carries no artistic provenance and was produced for the decorative export market. It is offered as a Studio Find—an honest object that falls outside Viridian’s primary curatorial focus on fine art and antiques.

This set is in unused, stable condition, with light wear to the exterior packaging consistent with age and storage. Soaps remain intact. As with all decorative soaps, surface variation and minor scuffing may be present.
