An early 20th-century neoclassical candlestick with a deep red painted finish, fluted column form, and aged copper-alloy construction. The piece carries the presence of an old-world altar candlestick in miniature, with architectural detailing, a wide stepped base, and a richly worn surface that reveals layers of age, patina, and warm metallic undertones.
The Design
This candlestick is defined by its classical silhouette: a broad circular base, ribbed pedestal, tapered fluted column, beaded banding, and raised candle cup. The red finish has aged beautifully, shifting between burgundy, oxblood, and burnished copper depending on the light.
The surface wear is especially compelling. Raised edges and carved-style details show rubbing and exposed metallic tones, while darker recesses hold age and patina. The result is sculptural, moody, and architectural without feeling overly formal.
Condition & Provenance
Early 20th century, c. 1920s–1940s. Maker unknown.
The underside shows visible oxidation and verdigris, consistent with a copper-alloy metal base, likely brass or bronze beneath the painted finish. The piece shows age-related wear throughout, including rubbing to the red surface, patina, finish loss, oxidation, darkening in recessed areas, and surface marks from use.
No major structural damage is visible in the photos. The candlestick is sold as a decorative vintage object and should be handled with care due to age and finish wear.

Why It Belongs In Your Home
This candlestick has the kind of aged presence that instantly makes a surface feel collected. The red finish adds warmth and drama, while the neoclassical form gives it structure and elegance.
Style it on a mantel, console, bookshelf, or dining table with a taper candle, stacked books, brass, dark wood, or antique ceramics. It works equally well as a functional candle holder or as a sculptural accent, which is mercifully more than most single candlesticks can claim after losing their other half to time.
