The Piece
A striking original oil — an abstract-expressionist coastal seascape alive with movement. Sea, sky, and windswept surf are built up in confident palette-knife strokes, blues and sea-greens breaking into whites and greys above a rocky shoreline flecked with warm red-brown, orange, and violet. It's atmospheric and energetic, the kind of modernist landscape that reads as pure weather and light — dramatic from across a room, richly textured up close. Signed in red at the lower right, VIKI, and set in a gilt frame with a green velvet liner that sets off the cool palette beautifully.
History & Provenance
This is a genuine mid-twentieth-century modernist oil in the European abstract-expressionist tradition — loose, gestural palette-knife work that prized mood and energy over literal detail, framed in the gilt-and-velvet manner of Continental galleries of the 1960s and '70s. It's signed VIKI in the artist's hand; the name is as yet undocumented in the standard databases, marking it the work of a talented but not-yet-catalogued modernist — exactly the sort of original that rewards a collector's eye and can only appreciate if the name is one day identified. Not a print, not a reproduction: a singular, hand-painted work with real presence.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
Original abstract art gives a room energy a print never can, and this coastal seascape brings movement, texture, and a sophisticated cool-and-warm palette in one framed statement. Hang it over a mantel, a sofa, or a console, or lean it in a collected gallery wall — its blues and greens suit both moody, dark-walled rooms and light, airy ones. A genuine mid-century European original, signed and ready to hang, with the intrigue of a name still waiting to be discovered
