The Piece
A polished pair of vintage silver-plated serving utensils, including one spaghetti server and one lasagna server, both retained in their original retail boxes. Designed for formal table service, holiday entertaining, and proper “we own serving utensils for specific carbohydrates” dining moments, this set brings a refined, traditional look to the table without the commitment or cost of sterling silver.
The spaghetti server features a dramatic pierced claw-style bowl made for lifting and draining pasta, while the lasagna server has a wide engraved blade with a lightly serrated edge for serving lasagna, casseroles, desserts, and layered baked dishes. Together, they make a handsome vintage tabletop set for entertaining, display, or gifting.
Design & Construction
Both pieces are made from silver-plated metal with traditional shell, floral, and scroll-inspired detailing. The handles feature decorative relief work, with a shell motif at the terminal and raised ornamentation along the shaft. The lasagna server has a wide rectangular blade with embossed scrollwork and a scalloped lower edge, giving it a more formal presentation style.
The spaghetti server has a sculptural pierced head with elongated cutouts and pointed tines, allowing pasta to be lifted and served while excess water or sauce drains through. It is honestly a little dramatic for spaghetti, but pasta has survived worse.
Each piece comes in its original box. The boxes show late 20th-century retail giftware styling, with black, silver, and hot pink packaging and photographic serving imagery.
History & Provenance
These boxed serving pieces likely date to the 1980s–1990s, when silver-plated tableware and specialty serving utensils were popular as wedding gifts, hostess gifts, holiday dining accessories, and department-store tabletop items.
The lasagna server box is marked Fine Silver Plated by Godinger N.Y. Godinger is known for decorative tabletop, serveware, crystal, and silver-plated gift items. The spaghetti server box is marked Fine Silver Plated by CSA N.Y., likely a New York tabletop or giftware distributor. While the two pieces may not be from the same exact maker, they coordinate well visually and function beautifully as a pasta service set.
Why This Belongs in Your Home
This set is ideal for anyone who loves a layered, collected table. The pieces are practical enough for dinner service but decorative enough to display in a dining cabinet, buffet, butler’s pantry, or vintage tabletop vignette.
They are especially suited for holiday meals, Sunday dinners, Italian-inspired entertaining, formal buffets, and hostess gifting. Styled with linen napkins, vintage china, pressed glass, or silver candlesticks, they add instant polish without wandering into “estate sale monarchy cosplay.” A merciful balance.
