The Design

A dramatic matched pair of vintage Victorian Revival hurricane lamps, each built with an illuminated glass body, large hand-painted floral shade, ruffled chimney opening, pierced metal gallery, and ornate dark scroll-form base.

The lamps carry the full romance of the classic “Gone With the Wind” parlor lamp form: glowing glass, rounded silhouette, floral decoration, and decorative metalwork that turns functional lighting into a room-making object. Each shade is painted with soft daisy-like florals, brown foliage, and scrolling vinework over a warm opaline glass body that shifts from creamy white to blush pink when lit.

The bases are heavily ornamented with scrolling relief and claw-style feet, grounding the softness of the glass with a darker, more architectural presence. When illuminated, the pair gives off a warm theatrical glow: part Victorian parlor, part old hotel lobby, part “modern lighting could never.”

Condition & Provenance

Consistent with mid-20th-century Victorian Revival / Gone With the Wind style lighting, likely c. 1960s–1970s. The lamps are photographed illuminated and appear functional at the time of photography.
