Zero Electric Table Fan — c. 1950s
Blue Enamel Base • Aluminum Blades • American Industrial Design
A vibrant example of mid-century industrial design, this Zero electric fan embodies the optimism and craftsmanship of postwar America. Manufactured by Bersted Manufacturing Company in the 1950s, it features a streamlined aqua-blue enamel base, polished aluminum blades, and the iconic red “ZERO” center badge. Designed for practicality and style, the fan’s compact form and aerodynamic cage reflect the influence of both Art Deco and Space Age design principles.
History
The Zero fan line was produced under the Eskimo and Bersted brands—an American manufacturer celebrated for its affordable, reliable home appliances. Emerging during an era when color and design became part of domestic identity, the Zero series introduced bright finishes and chrome details into everyday utility. These fans symbolized the dawn of mid-century modern household innovation, marrying industrial durability with sculptural appeal.
