The Piece
Acrylic on canvas, thirty by twenty-four inches, and the most formally austere painting in the collection. The eyes are closed. There is almost no gesture. Everything the picture does, it does with colour and with stillness.
Allibe works a band of red across the face — the most overt symbolic move she permits herself anywhere in the body of work — and holds the rest of the canvas quiet around it. The mouth is softened rather than drawn; the posture reads as a prayer that is never spoken aloud. Where most of her figures turn away from the viewer, this one turns inward, which produces an unusual effect in a room: it does not ask for attention and it is very difficult to stop looking at. The composition obeys her three-colour limit strictly.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years, producing more than 150 works that never entered the market, before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.
Viridian Eclection is her private dealer. This painting comes directly from the studio, with a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
A closed-eyed figure is the one kind of portrait that does not watch the room, which makes this the rare painting that works in a bedroom, a reading corner, or a meditation space without feeling like a presence. Quiet enough to live beside, strong enough to be the only thing on the wall.

Antiques are irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind. Carrier handling is outside our control once a piece has left our facility, and major carriers including FedEx do not insure antiques. We do everything within our power to ensure safe transit, but cannot accept liability for carrier damage. If damage occurs in transit, we will provide full documentation to support your carrier claim.
