The Piece
A gold streak runs across the eyes. The artist is explicit that it is not concealment but revelation — the figure covers her sight because the world has become too loud to witness directly, and the true seeing starts when she stops looking.
It is the cleanest statement of Allibe's central rule anywhere in the collection. She will not finish an eye, and here she makes the refusal the subject rather than the technique. The gold is worked into the surface and then distressed so it reads as a veil rather than an ornament, against a ground that runs half shadow, half light. Thirty by forty inches.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years — more than 150 works, almost none of them sold — before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.
Viridian Eclection is her private dealer. This painting comes directly from the studio, with a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist.
