The Piece
Acrylic on canvas, thirty-six by twenty-four inches. A figure with the face lifted — one of the few upward gestures in a body of work built almost entirely on figures turning away.
The painting is about a return of feeling rather than the arrival of a person. Allibe describes the subject as a woman who mistook endurance for strength and quiet for peace for long enough that her own senses had gone dormant. The upward tilt of the head is the moment they come back. Compositionally it is the reason the tall format works: the empty upper third of the canvas is not wasted space but the thing she is turning toward, and Allibe's rule about letting a third of the surface breathe earns its keep here more literally than anywhere else in the collection.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years, producing more than 150 works that never entered the market, before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
An upward-looking figure lifts a low room, which is a real architectural use rather than a decorative one — it works under an eight-foot ceiling where a heavier composition would press down. Pairs naturally with the Contessa at the same dimensions if you are flanking a fireplace or a doorway.
Available for private viewing at The Morris Hotel Building, Reno. Trade and design enquiries welcome.

All antique and vintage items are sold as described and all sales are final. Each listing includes detailed condition notes and photographs so you can make a fully informed decision. We encourage buyers to ask questions — about condition, dimensions, finish, provenance — before purchasing.
Antiques are irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind. Carrier handling is outside our control once a piece has left our facility, and major carriers including FedEx do not insure antiques. We do everything within our power to ensure safe transit, but cannot accept liability for carrier damage. If damage occurs in transit, we will provide full documentation to support your carrier claim.
