The Piece
A nocturne, and the most atmospheric painting in the group. Oil on canvas at thirty by forty inches, a figure at the edge of dark water with the noise of a party left somewhere behind her.
The gold is the subject. Allibe works metallic pigment into the figure's wrap so that it reads, from across a room, as luxury — and then distresses it, so that up close it reads as weight. Each fragment of gold stands for something earned and outgrown. The water is painted as a mirror that returns no answer, which is why the composition withholds a horizon line and lets the dark carry most of the canvas. Against that, the gold does what a single emotional colour is supposed to do in her system: it holds the eye, and it does not explain itself.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years, producing more than 150 works that never entered the market, before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.
Viridian Eclection is her private dealer. This painting comes directly from the studio, with a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
Dark paintings are the ones people are most afraid of and most rewarded by. This one holds a dim room rather than fighting it, and the metallic passages come alive under lamplight and candle in a way no reproduction reproduces. Hang it where the light is low and warm — a dining room, a study, a bedroom — and it will look like a different painting at night than it does at noon.

Antiques are irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind. Carrier handling is outside our control once a piece has left our facility, and major carriers including FedEx do not insure antiques. If damage occurs in transit, we will provide full documentation to support your carrier claim.
