The detail that carries the painting is the gold at the ear — it still catches the light, while the eyes have already gone somewhere else. Allibe paints the gap between those two facts, which is a harder subject than it sounds: the specific exhaustion that comes not from work but from performance, and from rooms full of people where proximity has been mistaken for connection. There is no drama in the picture. No exit, no confrontation. The figure is composed, the palette held to a warm ground with a single cool note, and the decision has clearly already been made somewhere off the canvas.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years, producing more than 150 works that never entered the market, before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.
Viridian Eclection is her private dealer. This painting comes directly from the studio, with a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist.
