A square canvas — thirty-six by thirty-six — of a figure facing the horizon. Allibe is direct about the subject: a woman who has stopped waiting for permission. The painting is her argument that real confidence is not loud. It is still, and it is steady, and it is almost impossible to paint without tipping into either sentiment or swagger.
She avoids both by withholding. No crown, no title, no declarative gesture. The face is turned and unresolved; the posture carries everything. Large quiet areas and soft transitions do the work that a more anxious painter would hand to detail — what Allibe calls painting silence, and the deliberate opposite of work built to be scrolled past. The square format reinforces it: nothing in the composition leans, so the figure simply holds.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe is a French-born contemporary painter working in Reno, Nevada, and the originator of Emotional Impressionism. She painted privately for over thirty years, producing more than 150 works that never entered the market, before entering formal study at the Milan Art Institute in 2025.
Viridian Eclection is her private dealer. This painting comes directly from the studio, with a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist.
