The Piece
An oil on canvas from Kat Allibe's Beyond the Veil series, and the clearest statement of her method in the collection. The figure was built up in layers and then deliberately taken apart — paint applied and scraped back, the surface scratched through, colour buried beneath colour and reopened, metallic pigment introduced and then distressed before it could settle into ornament. What remains on the canvas is the record of that removal.
The face is left unresolved. Passages of the figure dissolve into the ground; others surface unexpectedly into light. This is not an unfinished painting — it is the artist's fixed rule, and the reason the work holds attention: the eye keeps completing what the hand declined to close. Traces of earlier states stay visible beneath what came after. Nothing has been fully erased.
The title carries the argument. Not the accumulation of identity but its subtraction — the removal of what was never hers, until what is left is enough to stand on.
History & Provenance
Kat Allibe was born in France and lives and works in Reno, Nevada. She painted privately for more than thirty years while running an international marketing career, producing over 150 works that never entered the market. In 2025 she entered formal study at the Milan Art Institute, named her method Emotional Impressionism, and began Beyond the Veil: Paintings of the Invisible Self.
Viridian Eclection is the artist's private dealer for original works. This painting comes directly from her studio — artist to dealer to collector, with no intermediate hands — and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist. Allibe's originals have not previously been offered for sale.

Why It Belongs in Your Home
A painting at this scale sets the temperature of a room and then holds it. Because the face never resolves, this one does not settle into the wall — it stays interesting on the four-hundredth viewing, which is the only test that matters for work you live with.
For a designer it answers the hardest line in a scheme: one commanding piece with real authorship behind it. For a collector the position is rarer — a thirty-year practice, a named and codified method, and a market record that begins now.
Available for private viewing at The Morris Hotel Building, Reno. Trade and design enquiries welcome.
Every piece is packed with professional-grade materials: multiple foam layers, double-boxing, directional and fragile handling labels. For large furniture we use custom timber crating. We photograph packing before dispatch and can provide images on request.
White-glove delivery is complimentary within 100 miles of Reno, NV. National shipping quotes provided at checkout. All shipments are photographed and documented. Damage claims must be filed with the carrier; we provide all documentation needed to support your claim.
Local pickup is available at Viridian HQ (Reno, NV) with 2–4 days notice. Contact us to arrange. Private viewings also available.
All antique and vintage items are sold as described and all sales are final. Each listing includes detailed condition notes and photographs so you can make a fully informed decision. We encourage buyers to ask questions — about condition, dimensions, finish, provenance — before purchasing.
Antiques are irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind. Carrier handling is outside our control once a piece has left our facility, and major carriers including FedEx do not insure antiques. We do everything within our power to ensure safe transit, but cannot accept liability for carrier damage. If damage occurs in transit, we will provide full documentation to support your carrier claim.
Have a question? — we're happy to provide additional photos, condition detail, or discuss the piece directly.
